THE PLANT!!!

The sunlight, though at first dim,

Climbed up the ledge, and slid slowly in.

Vernon awoke, chlorophyll stirred within,

And happiness spread, through each leafy limb.

He wondered, plant like, what would happen today?

A good rain perhaps, to wash grime away?

When suddenly, movement, Vernon felt tense!

Something was there, oh the veggie suspense!

Something was coming, flying over the fence!

Something bloated and furry, and darkly dense!

Whatever was it, coming buzzing this way?

Why a fat, filthy fly to darken the day!

Full of germs and death’s own hue,

It zoomed here and there, as flies often do.

Then down it flew, to Vernon’s little brown pot,

Twitching its antenna and buggy what-not,

It scuttled about, to find just the perfect spot,

To leave its foul present, steaming and hot,

(Because I’ll tell you, in case you never knew

It planned to leave, one grade-A fly poo!)

Between Vernon’s leaves, he started to crawl,

Only to be shocked, by a moving plant wall?!

He tried to struggle, his little legs kicking!

He tried to climb, but his feet weren’t sticking!

He tried to fly, but his wings weren’t flicking!

He tired to fight, but he took a licking!

So disorientated, the fly took a fall!

Until he was enveloped, legs, wings and all!

Vernon smiled to himself, deep in his sap,

As his leaves closed tight, with a lighting snap,

That’ll teach you, to gimme your flap!

Welcome to the insides, of a Venus Fly Trap!
